VERSUS is a bi-monthly live music night, where bands and musicians perform on the same stage at the same time, dueling track for track and mixing it up together, making each Versus a uniquely special one-time event.

The Voodoo Rooms’ inaugural triangular tussle features much lauded local alt. folk heroes Meursault, juxtaposing frontman Neil Pennycook’s embittered crow against the propulsive bit-crushing of The Foundling Wheel and the robotic tribal discord of Dead Boy Robotics. They will be joined by special guests, Wounded Knee and The Japanese War Effort adding sparks of sonic provocation. A knife-edged eve of coruscating noise vs heart-wrenching melody, the rebirth of Versus will be a thrilling step into the unknown.

Versus @ The Voodoo Rooms 10 September 2009 Meursault vs The Foundling Wheel vs Dead Boy Robotics

Meursault: The most delicate of psalms performed on the most abrasive melodic canvas. “One album into their career, Meursault sound like they could go in all sorts of exciting directions.” – The Scotsman

The Foundling Wheel: Builds noise-saturated, melody-laced mountains of programmed polyrhythms and bit-crushed distortion. "A one man wail of screeching banshee sonics" – The Skinny

Dead Boy Robotics: Spits out call-and-response broken-beat synth-punk at splintering decibels. " A cross-sworded cluster of palpitating electronica and dissipating pummel" – Under the Radar
